New from Christian Petzold – the ambitious, acclaimed director of Transit, Barbara, Phoenix and Undine – is the award-winning Afire, a riveting and playful look at complicated relationships.
Holidaying by the Baltic Sea, novelist Leon (Thomas Schubert) and photographer Felix (Langston Uibel) are surprised by a mysterious, unexpected fellow guest. Beautiful and charismatic, Nadja (Paula Beer) distracts Leon from his writing and forces him to confront his flaws. Tensions escalate as a handsome lifeguard and Leon's tight-lipped editor join them, while a growing forest fire nearby threatens the safety of their temporary home.
